I missed the PM on this CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) unit but I was able to participate in an operation verification procedure on it. We verified that the patient removal rate was functioning properly. After we set the patient removal rate to 200 ml/hr, we used a container with 1000 ml and checked it every 15 minutes for approximately 45 minutes. The machine was operating properly because each time we checked it, approximately 50 ml had been removed. This unit was returned to service upon completion of the OVP.

This ESU came to the shop on a corrective work order stating that it would not work with the ESU pencil. The work order stated that they had tried a different pencil. I connected a pencil and a return electrode to find out exactly what the unit would/wouldn't do. The screens would display dimly and would not let you make a selection or adjust any settings. After checking out the ESU a little further, I found that removing the universal footswitching port (UFP) adapter would enable the screens. That was the only reason found that the unit wouldn't work. We completed a PM on the unit and an OVP to verify that the unit was working properly. The unit was returned to service.
