Richard Wolf 2232 Endoscopy CO2 insufflator
The work order stated that this the pump on this insufflator was not working. We took the machine to the lab and acquired a tube kit for testing purposes. We connected the tube set up as indicated by the manual. Upon setup, the pump began rotating. We adjusted the speed of the pump up and down numerous time and everything seemed to be operating properly. A representative from Wolf informed us that a possible cause to this problem is that one of the connection ports has a contact inside and if the tubing is not connected properly the pump will not engage. We returned the device to the surgery suite and explained to the staff that the hoses must be connected properly to allow the pump to engage.

Conmed System 5000
A corrective work order was turned in on a Conmed System 5000 ESU stating that one of the connections for the monopolar pencil was cutting in and out. We tested the 2 monopolar connectors and one of them was extremely loose. We took the machine apart and bent the metal clasps inside the machine so that the contacts could be made and remain strong. We did this to both monopolar outputs and the bipolar output as well. After we put the machine back together we completed a PM on it also. We did a visual check, return electrode check, display operation check, and checked the wattage of the ESU at various settings using a 454A ESU tester. We also completed an electrical safety test and all parameters were within the acceptable range. The ESU was returned to service. We completed a PM on a second ESU and everything tested good on that device also .
