Today was my first visit to St. Mary's. Throughout the day we toured a large portion of the facility. We toured the maintenance areas, pediatric unit, surgery suites, sleep lab, ICU, CVICU (cardiovascular ICU), laundry, emergency, and several other areas. There were more departments than I ever imagined. It really was a mind blowing experience to see the inter-workings of a hospital. I was able to sit in on 2 meetings today also. The first one was a biomed meeting that is held weekly. They discussed where each tech was on completing their monthly PM's and also the open work orders that had been submitted. The second meeting I attended was pertaining to the acquisition and installation of new monitors for the CVOR and CVICU area. The new monitors will allow for continuous monitoring for the patient during transport.
